Call for Nominations - 2010 Stoll Stunkard Memorial Lectureship 

To honor someone whose prominence in basic research is evident, and who is not necessarily a parasitologist, but one whose research might enhance investigations on parasites, hence fostering cross-fertilization of ideas and approaches.

Willis A.Reid Jr -Student Research Fund Print E-mail

In 2004, the American Society of Parasitologists began a new program to provide small grants to students studying parasitology. At this time, the ASP is able to fund one graduate student ($1000) and one undergraduate student ($500) doing research in the field of parasitology.

Two recipients for the Best Student Presentation Awards are awarded each year at the annual meetings, as well as three recipients for the runner-up Meritorious Awards, on the basis of evaluations of papers that have been entered in the Student Paper Competition.

H.B. Ward Medal Award Print E-mail

The Henry Baldwin Ward Medal is presented by the American Society of Parasitologists in recognition of outstanding contributions to the field of Parasitology.The recipient shall be a member of the Society for no less than 3 years at the time of the nomination and in mid-career, and who, by self-directed investigations, shall have attained a position of leadership in some aspect of parasitological research.

The award consists of a special bronze medal designed by Dr. Justus F. Mueller, an honorarium of $1,000, a certificate, and travel and accommodation expenses. Recipient must deliver an acceptance speech.

Clark P. Read Mentor Award Print E-mail

Awarded to honor an individual who, during his or her career, has demonstrated extraordinary leadership in the training of young scientists who have successfully pursued the independent study of parasites or aspects of the host-parasite relationship. Further, the individual shall have influenced the research and/or graduate education of a department, college or institution to significantly increase the number of students completing graduate level training in the various disciplines of parasitology.

The award will consist of travel and accommodation expenses and a certificate to be presented during the Annual Meeting of the Society. The recipient will be expected to deliver a 30 minute oral presentation to the membership of the Society emphasizing his or her views and experiences related to mentoring.
